A friendly older person with poor mobility is seeking a Helpful Housemate for her home to give her a little bit of help – up to 5 hours a week – in exchange for the lower-than-market- rent.
She would really benefit from some light, ad hoc practical help around the house including picking up shopping, simple IT and filing, taking out the bins, carrying heavier things, watering the garden, changing lightbulbs, occasional errands and helping keep the home clean and tidy, as per any house share. The Helpful Housemate is also requested to keep their own bedroom clean and tidy, and leave any communal areas such as the shared bathroom and kitchen clean and tidy after use. Nb there is a weekly cleaner.
The accommodation on offer is a small double room with shared use of the bathroom and kitchen in a cottage with a garden.
Clapham South Underground Station (Northern Line) is a 10 mins bus or 20 mins walk away, or Brixton Station (Victoria Line) is a 15 mins bus ride from the property. There is a local Tesco at the end of the road.
The lady’s interests include music and the performing arts – she still teaches music (in her sitting room) – and is very sociable and takes an interest in people. She also enjoys the birds in her pretty courtyard garden. This would suit someone who is quite independent, but has some time to be able to lend a hand to their Host. As the lady is sensitive to cooking smells, this would not suit someone who likes to spend a lot of time cooking.
Helpful Housemates usually work or study and have a few spare hours each week to offer a light hand to their Host. The ideal Helpful Housemate will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker.
If you are interested, please fill in the application form and we will be in touch and can then give you more details about this specific situation and potentially offer you an interview.

Helpful Housemate sought for Staines, Surrey TW18
Available February 2025 for a Female

A friendly and independent elderly gentleman is seeking a Helpful Housemate for his home to give him a little bit of help and company – up to 5 hours a week – in exchange for the lower-than-market- rent.
Due to his age, he would really benefit from some ad hoc practical help around the house and garden with things that tire him out, including light housework (including hoovering), putting bins out, changing lightbulbs when needed, mowing the lawn twice a month, making the beds and generally just the friendly company and reassurance of having someone else living in his home.
The Helpful Housemate is also required to keep their own accommodation clean and tidy, and to leave any communal areas such as the bathroom and kitchen clean and tidy after use.
The accommodation on offer is a newly decorated double bedroom with king-sized bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. There are also two small rooms, currently unfurnished for the Helpful Housemate’s use – ideal for someone working from home sometimes. The shower room is shared, as is the well-equipped kitchen, sitting room and garden. There is parking.
The property is conveniently located in the riverside town of Staines-Upon-Thames, just 12 minutes’ walk from Staines Station, and 20 minutes’ walk from Staines town centre.
The gentleman is ‘young at heart’; his main hobby is music, playing various instruments and enjoying a range of music genres including Americana, Country, Rock & Roll, Irish and popular Classical. He is very sociable and enjoys regular visits from family – and perhaps a game of Bingo! His daughter has a small friendly dog who visits with her, so a dog lover is essential.
