A warm and friendly older person is seeking a Helpful Housemate for their home to give them a little bit of help and company – up to 5 hours a week – in exchange for the lower-than-market- rent.

This person would appreciate a very little practical help with changing lightbulbs, simple IT, carrying heavier items and the company of a friendly housemate who would enjoy eating some meals with them and maybe accompanying them occasionally to the theatre, cinema or an art gallery. The Helpful Housemate is also requested to keep their bedroom clean and tidy, and leave any communal areas such as the bathroom and kitchen clean and tidy after use.

The accommodation on offer is a beautifully-presented furnished spacious double bedroom (double bed, wardrobe, desk and chair, bedside drawers, bookcase) and shared bathroom. The housemate is welcome to use the sitting room during the day (it becomes the Host’s personal space during the evenings). There is also a very well-presented kitchen with a microwave and kettle for housemates use. The Host is a keen cook with a wide repertoire of dishes from a wide range of cuisines, and prefers to do the cooking both for themselves and any house guests (and will normally include the cost of this within the rent). The Host also does the laundry. There is a weekly cleaner for communal areas.

The property is conveniently in a lovely residential area approx. 2.5 miles to the east of Bristol city centre (less than 30 mins by bus or 15–20 minutes cycle ride).

Helpful Housemates usually work or study and have a few spare hours each week to offer a light hand to their Host. The ideal Helpful Housemate will be a positive, friendly, kind, helpful and reliable non-smoker who shares some of the Host’s interests.
